This site is a year old. It’s being reconstructed at  the moment

For more information about HoAmPresst current publications go to

Chasing Waves is now available for purchase as an ebook on Kindle and epub formats.

It is reviewed by Jan Needle on indieebookreview site

and more information is available from the hoampresst website

Here’s a preview of what you can expect from HoAmPresst in 2012. Appropriate links will be posted as and when the information goes online but this is just a new year sneak preview.

First up sometime Feb/March will be Chasing Waves

The first play to be epublished by HoAmPresst was first performed in 2004.  It is ‘bundled’ together with the unproduced Benito Boccanegra’s Big Break from the early 1990’s.  There are many ‘extras’ in the ebook edition including loads about the process of production of Chasing Waves and an introduction to Benito Boccanegra, explaining how one thing leads to another.

Scheduled for late spring (and spring can come very late up here) but hopefully some time April/May (note the vagaries of epublishing make specific launch dates hard) will be THE SPRING COLLECTION.

This will comprise IN THREE MINDS a trilogy of e-books in which the central characters never meet but are nevertheless linked by ‘perspectives’.  We hope to -publish all the books at the same time because you can read them in any order, and, depending on which order you read them, your own perceptions about the novels will vary.

The novels are: Another World is Possible (has already been published, first as an online blog serial in 2007 with a limited edition paperback as Otro Mundo es Posible and  as a paperback in 2008 but will be slightly revised for this ebook edition) The One that Got Away and Butterfly Dreaming. More information about these will be posted come February on a dedicated site

Keep it real summer reads.

The Summer will bring about limited edition paperbacks of In Three Minds.

The Autumn Collection

Will focus on 10th anniversary e-publications of two plays

Down the Line (2002) A modern adaptation of J.M.Barrie’s classic play The Admirable Crichton

Men in White Suits (2002) First performed as a rehearsed reading at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh in November 2002 and dealing with the issues of the Foot and Mouth outbreak of 2001.

As you have come to expect with HoAmPresst e-publications there will be loads of extras in the e-books making them good value for money as well as a good addition for your chosen e-reader.

Having just discovered that in fact both Brand Loyalty and Threads of Time are available ALL OVER THE PLACE in epub format, but that no one will find them if they type in Cally Phillips because somewhere along the line someone…. still looking for the culprit, has mis-spelt it as Cally Philips, suddenly the value of ISBN’s becomes apparant.

If you are searching for Brand Loyalty in the short term google ISBN 9780956683892

and if you are looking for The Threads of Time google ISBN 9780956683861  and you should get loads of sites offering. Around £3.50 or £5 seems to be the standard price.  (Kobo is still the best UK price I can see)

While this is a faff, and it would be MUCH EASIER just to be able to type in Cally Phillips, we try to remain sanguine in this season of good will to all men and hope that the error  will be rectified very soon.

Of course if you’re buying on Amazon there’s no problem (though I will point out that in the initial stages of Amazon publication ‘they’ managed to attach the wrong cover to the book so you’d have got something completely different.)  And that the last time I looked there’s an erroneous copy floating around published by fast-print which is much more expensive than the HoAmPresst version.

The problem seems to be with meta-data. Despite sending what we think are perfectly good metadata files out to the distributor, somewhere in the process everything seems to get mangled and such errors occur. Currently HoAmPresst is not always listed as the publisher, which is a pain, but having the author name wrong is a BIG annoyance as this is the main way of searching for something, no?

Hopefully Chasing Waves, the next publication, will have less problems associated with it. Due out some time February, fingers crossed!

It is now possible to get hold of both The Threads of Time and Brand Loyalty for epub (at a lower price than Amazon) Here’s how to do it. You go either to W.H.Smith or Kobo (if you go to W.H.Smith it just sends you to Kobo actually!) But they have managed at the moment to mis-spell the author name so you need to go for Cally Philips (with one l as opposed to 2) yawn, yes, hopefully this will be corrected soon.  When you do this you’ll find the books at £3.35 AND the option to buy them as a gift for someone else… two things that are better than amazon.

Or you can just follow the links from the ebooks post/page on this site!

Having had an email late on Friday from distributors saying that The Threads of Time had passed validation but not Brand Loyalty, and another weekend cursing the vagaries of epublishing technology, imagine the surprise to find that both books are listed on site as NEW BOOKS.   check it out here

Pricing raised even more of an eyebrow. Threads costs £4.16 from there (despite HoAmPresst listing the RRP as £3.99.) And Brand Loyalty, supposedly not even available yet, at £3.99.

All that can be derived from this is a) that the world of ebook publication is very strange once you step out of the simple comfort zone of Amazon or Smashwords, and that b) sometime soon it really will be possible for people to download epub versions of Brand Loyalty ‘across platform.’   And c) that the technology has to really get some joined up thinking going down because this is a weird weird and not very wonderful way of doing publishing so far!

You CAN have a free copy of Voices in Ma Heid ebook… but at the moment the page links aren’t working off the website… it’s being worked on. But for the interim, the best suggestion is to send an email to requesting your copy and whether you want it in kindle or epub format and we’ll send it straight to your email inbox!  Not as smooth or as elegant as planned but…. something for nothing is better than nothing for nothing.
